The Electric Guitar
A study in ergonomic form and acoustic sustain. This instrument redefines the connection between player and sound through advanced materials and organic surfacing.
Challenge
At Sebar Design, we never turn away from a challenge. For this project, we aimed to create a piece where engineering meets art: a custom electric guitar designed entirely from scratch. As a team always keen to gain new skills, we did not shy away from the complexity of learning luthier techniques. We needed to master the intricacies of guitar construction while specifically highlighting the unique capabilities of laser cutting.
Solution
To bridge the gap between design and function, we poured hours of research into the electronics and construction. Everything was accounted for in an original 3D model, which streamlined the physical woodworking. The body was built from layers of individually laser-cut plywood, laminated for strength, while the hexagon pattern was formed by meticulously placing solid wood pieces to highlight their natural grain. We even custom-designed and laser-engraved a clear acrylic cover for the electronics cavity.
Result
Despite every step being a first for us, we tackled the process with care and finesse. The end result is a truly unique, one-of-a-kind instrument that is fully functional. It stands as a testament to our ability to combine technical precision with creative design, proving that we can master new crafts to deliver exceptional projects.
